Ferrari is not wasting any more time and has switched to hybrid with a brand new model of LaFerrari SF90 Stradale.
The monster doesn’t have the same engine as the LaFerrari (V-12) but instead has their new completely redesigned hybrid V-8 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine that provides by itself 769 horsepower along with an extra 217 from the electric motors combined summed up to a total of 986 horsepower.
The transmission on this beast has also been redesigned not being the classic seven-speed automatic transmission but instead, they added an additional speed to it making it a double-clutch eight-speed automatic transmission that they claim is 20% smaller than the previously made seven-speed making it 15 lbs lighter after all.
This model is also the first mid-engine model to have All-Wheel Drive along with the big engine models, primarily thanks to the electric motors powering the front axle while the V-8 is powering the rear axle and the front motors also provide torque-vectoring from side to side.
Thanks to the electric motors this car is also insanely fast, accelerating from 0-60 in about 2.5 seconds and a brutal 6.7 seconds to reach 127 MPH the limiting factor for top speed is the fact that the front axle is powered by electric motors allowing the car to only reach up to 211 MPH top speed.
The car also has an EV mode if you wish to save some gas money and lets you drive full-electric at a maxim speed of 83 MPH for about 15 miles, great for late-night cruises in the neighborhood or market trips.
It also has new driving modes, along with the EV mode it also has Hybrid and Performance that let the driver decide how much power he wants.
The new brake-by-wire system is also aboard on the new Ferrari and the interior is also reimagined different from the rest of the Ferraris available on market at the time.
The chassis of the new Ferrari is also stiffer as they claim it is at least 20% stiffer in bending and has 40% better torsional rigidity than all the previous platforms, and they switched from ribbed to hollow casts for some of the pieces to reduce weight.
It’s supposed to appear on sale in the summer of 2020 at an estimative price of about 1.2 million USD.
