Hennessey Builds a 35-Car Mustang Series with 850 Horsepower and Carbon-Fiber Aero

Hennessey chose its anniversary project from Ford’s current Mustang range and kept the volume low. Only 35 cars enter production, each linked to the company’s 35th year in business. A “91” marking on the hood points to 1991, the year John Hennessey started the Texas operation.

This car starts from the standard Mustang GT, not from the Mustang GTD. Ford’s regular version delivers 500 horsepower in factory form. Hennessey raises the figure to 850 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque after extensive engine work. The increase puts the output far above the donor car and shifts the model into another category.

Ford’s own GTD still carries higher factory status inside the Mustang line, with 815 horsepower, or 826 metric horsepower, plus 664 pound-feet of torque. Ford also lists a 0 to 60 miles per hour run of 3.5 seconds, a quarter-mile result in the mid-10-second range, and a 202 miles per hour maximum speed. At Nürburgring, the GTD completed a lap in 6 minutes and 57.685 seconds, the first sub-seven-minute lap recorded by an American production car there.

Hennessey follows another route. The Super Venom keeps a V8 layout paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, sending output to the rear axle. The tuner says horsepower climbs by 70 percent compared with the Mustang GT, while torque rises by 55 percent. The mechanical package places the car close to supercar territory, even if the original base remains Ford’s 500-horsepower coupe.

Exterior changes focus on airflow and chassis balance. A carbon-fiber front splitter appears at the nose. Carbon fiber also shapes the rear deck lid and lip spoiler. Side skirts continue the package, while front fender louvers remain functional rather than decorative.

The cabin receives new trim as well. Hennessey installs leather and Alcantara surfaces, then adds seats carrying the company logo. Interior changes stay aligned with the limited-run theme rather than introducing a separate design language.

Within Hennessey’s own range, this still sits below the Venom F5 Evolution. That model reaches 2,031 horsepower from a 6.6-liter twin-turbo “Fury” V8 and stands as the company’s highest-output road car. Hennessey also states that more than 18,000 vehicles have passed through its workshops over 35 years.

Pricing has not been released. The company leaves the final number open, while John Hennessey confirms that another hypercar project is already moving forward in parallel.
